A Draddy itinerary for a long weekend in and around New York City — what to wear at every stop.
The best weekends in New York don't start in the city. They start the way they've started for generations of people who live in Westchester and the surrounding counties — with an early tee time, a bag that's already in the car, and the understanding that the city and the course are not competing experiences but bookends of the same excellent day.
Here is the itinerary. Here is what to wear for it.
FRIDAY EVENING: ARRIVE IN THE CITY
Check in, change, meet people for drinks somewhere that doesn't require a reservation three weeks in advance. A Russ Crewneck over the Liam polo and the Brian Pant is the whole outfit — it takes you from the train platform to the bar without a moment of second thought.. The crewneck carries enough warmth for the walk, the polo underneath signals intention, the Brian Pant closes the loop. One outfit, fitting for any type of Friday evening.
SATURDAY MORNING: EARLY TEE TIME
Drive out before the city is awake. The course is different at 7am than at any other hour — quieter, cooler, the light doing something the afternoon never replicates. A Cool polo for the warmer months or the Jack Long-Sleeve for fall. The Zac performance short or the Ambassador Pant depending on the season and the dress code. The Everyday Vest in the bag for the first three holes before the sun arrives. This is the B. Draddy wardrobe in its most natural context.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON: INTO THE CITY
Post-round, into Manhattan. The Cool polo holds its shape through the drive. If there's time to change: swap the performance short for the Brian Pant. Either way, you’re ready for the day. Walk. Coffee. Museum if the mood is right. Nowhere specifically, everywhere in the right company.
SATURDAY EVENING: DINNER AT FINI
Fini Pizzeria. A table you'll be glad to have reserved. The Russ Crewneck or the 007 Cashmere Crewneck over a clean polo — dress it up without changing the language of what you're wearing. Fini is the kind of room where the right clothes are the clothes that look like you chose them, not the clothes that chose you. B. Draddy was built for exactly this room.
SUNDAY MORNING: SLOW
The Dewey tee and the Big Daddy Short. Nowhere to be, nothing to prove. The best morning of the weekend, wearing the simplest thing in the bag and not missing anything more.
